Check the sale price first
Sale items are often excluded from promo codes. Look for “valid on sale items” in the terms; if it isn’t there, test the code anyway — plenty of stores allow it even when they don’t advertise it.
Use first-order codes on new stores

The order that works
- Add the sale item to your cart at its reduced price.
- Apply the promo code before checkout, not after.
